We are often asked what it takes to learn to ring.
The following elements are needed by someone wanting to join Isle Bells:
--An ability to understand piano music and pick out two consecutive notes and play them
--A desire to do the practicing needed at home to learn the music and the instrument
--An ability to attend weekly practices. Attendance in a bell choir is crucial, so being committed from the start is something we ask of all of our members. We practice two hours weekly from August -- May (with a month-long break over December).
Much of our current choir is comprised of people who have learned the instrument with little to no prior handbell experience. Hard work and practice have allowed them to experience what our instrument and fellowship has to offer.
Joining the choir often works best at the beginning of the season. However, if you are interested in coming to watch and learn more about whether you may want to participate, please email Ella at ella2076@gmail.com to set up a visit.
